Default Harlan shift light install

I recently bought a Harlan shift light from Frost, and installed it today. Very simple to install, and just as easy to set it up. I installed it in the driver's side A-pillar defrost vent. I cut the vent tubing behind the A-pillar to allow the light to fit, and then trimmed the vent fins. It looks really clean. I set it for 5800 RPM, and gave it a few test runs on the highway - it worked perfectly. Here's some pics:

No pics of it in action, sorry.

I was going to put mine there, but I ended up putting it inside the air vent instead. I used velcro to mount it and when it goes off, the whole vent lights up so it is impossible to miss. I chose the vent because I wanted it to be hidden and easily removed if I wanted to take it out.

Looks like a clean install though.

I cut the vent tubing behind the pillar so there would be space. Then I cut the fins out of the vent ring and slid the light through it. The vent ring holds it tightly, so there's no need for Velcro, tape, etc.

Same place I installed mine too. I have also seen them mounted on the top inside of the gauge cluster. Looked real good there too.

install university has one about putting it in the AC vent, but the only difference for in the pillar is running the wires to there..

I searched on here first to see how others had installed it in the vent. Actually installing it is ridiculously easy. The hardest part was getting the plastic cover on the PCM off so I could splice the light into the tach wire. Anyone with basic mechanical/electrical skills can do it.

For the power, I ran a wire to the 15 amp power accessory fuse in the interior fuse panel. For the ground, I ran a wire into the engine bay and connected it to one of the grounds on the driver's side.

A week after the install, I'm really happy with this light! It allows me to keep my eyes on the road during hard runs, and it's easily visible during both day and night. I specifically chose the red light because the stock gauges are red, and red light doesn't affect your night vision as much as other colors. I highly recommend this shift light to anyone who's looking to get one.

Thanks for the nice words! I will be in Fort Wayne tuning Tuesday 21st (this coming week) through Saturday the 25th. ALL ORDERS placed during this time will ship out Monday the 27th.

If you want them to ship now, order by noon on Monday the 20th to avoid the delay!
