scratch on the Z

scratch on the Z So I come out to my Z28 today and there is a scratch about this long ________________. Talk about pissed off. Well anyway the scratch is a white color so I am assuming it just scratched the clear coat I hope. If this is true can I not just get some fine grit sandpaper and wet sand the scratch and then just wax over it. Any input would be helpful. Re: scratch on the Z If your car isnt white, then the scratch probably went through the color coat. I havent had much success in repairing these myself, but here is what I did for a similar scratch. I filled it in with same color touch up paint and buffed it smooth with "3M Finesse-It II" followed by Meguire's Clear Coat Safe Polish (I dont remember the number on the bottle). Be very careful with the buffing compound or you could make it worse. A friend of mine found a repair kit that came with a tool to open the scratch a bit for better paint adhesion, but again this afforded limited success. I hope someone with more success can help you here.
