So I come out to my Z28 today and there is a scratch about this long ________________. Talk about pissed off. Well anyway the scratch is a white color so I am assuming it just scratched the clear coat I hope. If this is true can I not just get some fine grit sandpaper and wet sand the scratch and then just wax over it. Any input would be helpful. If your car isnt white, then the scratch probably went through the color coat. I havent had much success in repairing these myself, but here is what I did for a similar scratch. I filled it in with same color touch up paint and buffed it smooth with "3M Finesse-It II" followed by Meguire's Clear Coat Safe Polish (I dont remember the number on the bottle). Be very careful with the buffing compound or you could make it worse. A friend of mine found a repair kit that came with a tool to open the scratch a bit for better paint adhesion, but again this afforded limited success. I hope someone with more success can help you here.
