Not good. Need help! 3M tape I had my nephew (8 yrs old) in my car today. I have had an SS emblem in the glove box with 3M tape on it (never used it and should have trashed it). I wasn't paying attention to him because of the traffic. He asked me, "is this where this goes?" I didn't know what he was doing, so I said "yeah, it sure is." About a minute later, I look over and I now have an SS emblem on my dash, crooked, uncentered, and below the Pass Airbag. He got it on there really good. I can't pull it off.
What are my options. I don't want to ruin the dash pulling it off. Am I completely screwed, or are there options? Will pretty much anything I try kill the dash?

Use a blow dryer to heat it up, this will make it easier to get off. Also dashes get extremely hot so I doubt a blow dryer will hurt it. Also as mentioned use some fishing line to get it off. Use your fingers and the blow dryer to get as much residue off as possible then hit it with some dash cleaner. If the cleaner doesn't work use some bug off/ goo off they sell it at autozone. It's safe on all surfaces if I remember correctly. Good luck, shouldn't be a big deal.
That Goo Gone stuff will remove the residue just fine. Don't know if I'd use a hair dryer as concentrated heat in one area can cause it to crack vs. the sun heating up the entire surface uniformly. Use the fishing line and Goo Gone and your done.

I'm not saying to keep the dryer on the emblem for half an hour, just long enough to make it easier to get it off. As was mentioned use the fishing line first and if you need to use the blow dryer, then use it.
