That hood isn't exactly new! Its been around awhile. The reason you may not of heard about or seen one of them, is because they suck! Poor quality and even worse fitment. <img border="0" alt="[bomb]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bomb.gif" />

Yeah, Mecham has been around for awhile, but i've never seen there hoods, so i cannot vouch for the quality, although they do look pretty cool, i wouldn't mind having the 4 port heat extracter hod, if it was more affordable, and was guaranteed of good quality, but instead, i'm getting one of the VFN 3" SS hoods.

I've always loved the look of that hood. But, I've heard bad things about the quality.

I was wondering -- does it look bad on TOP of the hood too or just the underside? If it looks okay when the hood is closed -- I dont mind imperfection -- My car isn't a show car -- its a daily driver.

Thanks !

Not sure how the 'camaro & 'bird hoods compare as far as quality, but I can say the Mecham 'bird hoods suck bigtime. The top of mine was very wavy & didn't follow the body lines very well. The bottom was raw & unfinished.
YMMV,
Shane

I work with a fellow who has a 98 Mecham T/A.It has a four extractor hood on it.It's different than the one you sent the link on.It's a nice looking hood, the extractors are pretty much flush w/the hood. It's the first one i've seen like it.

this is probably the one your talking about http://www.mechamperformance.com/d_docs/h_FIRg4f.html , been looking for a hood other than the slp or ss hood and ran accross them.

redz,
yes, that's the one.It looks good on this guys black T/A.That's a pretty expensive hood.I've decided to keep my stock metal hood and spend the money on other mods.

By the time i priced it all out,i was looking at $2000. for complete job. It's not worth it to me.

I'd rather pay 1/2 and get a Sunoco hood.
