Default Removing Paint From Caliper

The hawk I bought has the rear calipers painted. How do I go about removing it? I don't want to remove the caliber to do so, as I haven't done that before.

Brake cleaner and a small wire brush?

My 95 Z28 had spray painted calipers. I used scrub brushes, wire brushes and sand paper to rough and clean up the surface. I didnt fully remove all the spray paint. But I painted over it with a G2 paint kit and never had probelms for years(no flacking , peeling etc)

I would like to completely remove it if not as much as possible. Have no interest in re-painting them

using any substances that remove paint will damage rubber and plastic parts so avoid getting any on your caliper piston boots and brake lines..
good luck man!

^ Thats what I was about to say lol. But to the OP, I'd either water sand em, use paint thinner (but cover up all parts like hoses and anything that could get damaged), or take em somewhere and have em blasted with something that the paint shop would recommend.

Brake fluid will take the paint right off.
Or gasoline.
