Default Should I pull my body side molding?

Since I got my front bumper shaved I've been thinking about pulling the door trim in an effort to smooth out the car even more.

Any opinions on how it would look and also on the easiest method to pull this stuff off would be appreciated.

It would work well with you "clean" theme!

I'd only be worried if you are concerned about door marks.

If your not going to keep the car 25 years go for it. It will give someone a good project restoring it down the road.
I have an old car I take to shows and maybe one guy in 100 has owned there car since high school
or more than 20years. A few guys have actually restored there own cars (cars they owned for a long time)it cool to talk with them they have some awesome stories to tell about what there car
went through. Now that I think about mod away thats part of the hobbie too.

I did it on my 2k T/A and I'm very happy with the look, but I only joyride my car, and I stay out of parking lots. Very clean looking, and it makes cleaning the side of the car easier. If you're not too worried about dings, I say 'go for it.'

I used dental floss to remove the moldings, and then WD-40 to take off the glue. Not too labor intensive.

I say take it off. I pulled mine off the day I got the car along with the front Z28 emblems. Door dings are not likely because the front fenders don't dent, the doors don't dent and the rear panel suffers door dings higher than the point of the body molding. The best way to remove it is to heat it up with a heat gun and pull. You might use fishing line or other strong string to get behind the pieces if you can't get them started, but they should come right off. I used the summer TX heat and nothing else. But, being winter I would suggest heat. Then if there is any residue left use something like 3M adhesive remover and then rewax the area. You can check out my car without the molding on my picture sight.

Good Luck!

You should definately remove the factory molding. the only reason its on from the factory is to keep the doors from being "dinged." So i don't see why anyone would want to keep it because its basically a piece of plastic stuck down the side of the car that looks unclean <img border="0" alt="[barf]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_barf.gif" /> . It is an easy thing to do because there aren't any holes, it can be done by using a hairdryer to heat up the glue and pull the strip off. Once its done just try not to open your door into anything or park right next to anyone. The car looks a lot more smooth without the the pointless factory Sh*t.

There is a pic of a Blackhawk on the back of GMHTP, and it has the molding and door emblems removed. Guess they come like that. It looks sweet, I'm going to take mine off in the next couple of days.
