Navy blue metallic or Electron Blue??

Re: Navy blue metallic or Electron Blue??
I would only change the color on a BLACK car. Reason being, is the engine bay will look kinda silly a different color. Yes you are going with a different color blue, but when you open the hood it will be two tone, now if the car was black, the engine bay would be black just like the old cars were.

Pop the hood and really look at EVERYTHING that would be in the way.
Off the top of my head . . .
Air Box
Headlights.
Battery
Fuse Boxes
Air Pump lines
ABS sending unit
Engine
AC
TCS
Computer
Master cylinder
The list goes on and on.
Why is the Insurance Co. repainting your car?? What level of repaint are they doing? Are they providing enough funds to do a car color change? Door jambs, under trunk, removing ALL trim.
A car color change is ALOT of work. I know been there - Twice.

I don't think the Ins. Co. Is going to pay for a color change. They will pay to get it fixed back how it was before the accident or whatever happened to your paint. I think color change, and painting underhood, door jambs, etc. would be something that you'd have to work out with the body shop, and it'd probably cost you some $$, but hell, it's not going to be as much as the whole paint job. I say go for it! My T/A is pewter, and I love it, but electron blue is really a standout color.

As nice as the Electron Blur would look at first. The two tone thing would prolly get to you after a while. And the car would be less desirable to sell afterwards

I'd agree with Andy on this....although I plan on doing just this with mine....changing the color all the way around from pewter to who knows yet within the next year. But then again, I paint all day and know what's involved. Not looking foward to doing the engine bay on my car, but I got the car at a very good price and didn't want to wait around for a black one at the used lot.
I figure armed with a spray can of semi-gloss and some sand paper, you can do a decent job by removing a part at a time under the hood and making sure it is black beneath and tackle this by sections, which I plan to do. But there is alot more to it than this....you still should have the door jams and deck lid, under hood shoot as well or you are going to regret the waste of work and money later. I personally wouldn't let anyone touch my car with the thought of an all-over color change unless it was going to be taken completely apart for the task. But looking at Andy's car below sure does make the change to Electron Blue tempting!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
