To HVAC delete, or not to HVAC delete.
I want to bounce this off you fine folks on here to maybe point something out I haven't thought of.
I purchased a 1994 White Camaro z28 a few weeks ago and have it stripped to the frame. I live in Houston currently, but will be moving to Denver in 2.5 years.
Houston = Hot
Denver = Cold
I really like the look of the HVAC equipment gone under the hood and I like the loss of the parasitic drag of the compressor and weight loss.
I'm doing a complete restore, so I will be bringing the inside back to or above stock. Sound is important to me, i.e. sound deadening materials, baffles, stereo, etc... So nice carpet and nice interior.
Having said that, I might take it to the track once or twice a year, I'll probably mostly cruise it or do some highway runs but I want to be comfortable. I will probably take the car to lots of car shows.
I guess I want A/C and Heat AND the looks and gains of having it gone. Can you see my issue?

Help me decide!
-Mike

IMHO, I would leave it or atleast replace it cause if the car isn't gonna be at the track but once or twice a year and be more for cruising, then you'll be thankfull you have heat and/or A/C in the summer/winter. I thought about deleting it on my car but I like the heat and A/C way to much since my car see's the track from the sidelines, lol. Yeah some people may say you can tint the windows to reduce heat in the summer, but really? How much is that really gonna help when the car is running and you sitting in traffic? Not to much of a whole lot really. But OP, thats my two cents. In the end do whatever makes you happy and what you wanna see done to YOUR car. Though's are just my opinion's as to why I haven't and won't do it to my car. Good luck with the restore though. Hope its smooth and easy for ya.
its not a dedicated track car, so i'd leave it, especially since it'll probably get used quite a bit, AC while in houston, heat while in denver.
The HVAC system can't be eating that much HP anyway. On another note, this is probably the first time I've seen someone actively restoring an F body-interesting. Why this particular car?
I have a couple reasons for this build, I'll just put them in a simple list format:
1.) I NEVER see a nicely restored f-body at any car show or meet that is 4th Gen. (There's nice ones, but you can tell not a complete restore.)
2.) In the 90's I really wanted one, but I ended up with a Vette instead.
3.) I want a different group of people to recognize the value of this car, not just young, dumb, hick, AC/DC, enter generalization here.
4.) I think that with wiring cleaned up, an upgraded interior, and some of my to the chest mods, this car will turn a lot of heads and prove my 5th point.
5.) 1994 Camaro + Build > 1994 Corvette + Build with an equal budget.
6.) LT1 is as good as any motor.
7.) LT1 is my favorite looking f-body.
The 5th point was an interesting thing to think about. My 1994 Camaro = $1k in the condition I got it in. For the same condition 1994 Vette it would of been 8-11k for the condition I was willing to deal with. That gives me a 7-10k head start on budget and also the parts for Camaro's are pennies on the dollar compared to the Vette for interior and exterior parts. (Engine is obviously the same.)

Hope that answered your question! Eventually I will start a build thread.
