Default 2002 Broken Windshield

After washing the SS with the windshield wipers propped up, I absentmindedly open the hood. While I did not fling it open, (I lifted it slowly to chest high level.) "Crack!" .... 5 cracks from wiper spline to the top of the windshield.

After researching, I found that the rubber bumpers are missing from the wiper rests. Due to this they are normally lower. The driver wiper actual tucks under the passenger wiper. Chevy says no warranty. (Car is 4 months old)

Has anyone seen this issue before?

Anybody have additional info regarding the clearance there?
Thanks.

Beleive it or not a rather commom mistake to open the hood and crush the windsheild. I beleve they actually worn you not to do that in the owners manual or a supplimental card they give you.

I feel your pain been there and done that. Call the insurance co. most have glass breakage coverage, shouldn't go against your record, nor should your deductable come into play - but every state is different.

I have often said we need a sticky post of dos and don'ts for FBody owners. Number one at the top of the list would be never raise your wiper arms, so many people have done this......

I did that 3 months after I got my car. It was covered by my insurance so I just got it taken care of through them. It sucks though. Especially cause you know it was your fault it happened.
