Default Removal of pretty bad scratches??

I'm putting my 98 in the world of wheels show here in downtown chicago in a few weeks.

my paint is not perfect from the fact that this was my only car for 4 years until i graduated college. the biggest problem is a few key marks some punks put on it on the fenders last summer at work.

what could i try to do to get these out or at least less noticeable? i have a 10" buffer and what not if that will help.

Thanks!
Sean

Did the key marks take the paint off. Or just scratch the clear coat?/ If the paint was not dammaged it will be easy to fix .. let me know. I work for a body shop part time...

If the scratches are to a point to where you can see white...then you have a problem, and that area needs to be repainted...if they are surface scratches or deep surface scratches to where it hasn't hit the primer yet, you will still be good..

I will be at WOW too, if you need any help with the detailing let me know...

Sorry for not replying yet guys, been busy.

seems like some of the scratches may have gone all the way through damnit.

but what about the ones that haven't? what can i get that will take them out/hide them?

wish i could put up some pics of the problem area..which of course is in a really visiable spot, so that's going to be a problem

Bos, this is my first major show with the car, so I may need some advice..what have you done in the past?

I'm not expecting to win a damn thing..just to many little issues with the paint and what not from driving this car everyday(minus winters) for 4 years through college. Its been through alot with all the road trips back and forth from school and sittin outside in the nasty **** that falls from Iowa skies while at school.

I've found 3M Finesse-it II Finishing Material to work great, you can do it by hand or use your buffer with it. You don't want to use a buffer/polisher that exceeds 1800 RPM's, anything over 1800 RPM's can cause the paint to burn.
