Default LED tail/turn lights

I've found the bulb to LED page already... I'm going to replace all my turn signals, taillights, and reverse lights with LEDs. Is any particular brand better than the others for brightness? ...or will the parts store cheapo's suffice?

I have tinted lenses so they need to be bright fwiw.

ALSO, I read in the threads where people have put LEDs in their gauge clusters and the suggestion was to grind the round tip of the LED flat in order to 'spread out' the light more. Is this ok to do on the LEDs I'll be using?

TIA
