Engine Compartment Paint
I have 2000 SS Ragtop that is black. I have some scratches on the shock towers tah I need to touch up. It seems that it is more of a charcoal color than exterior black. Anyone know what the color number is?? Thanks, Jay

Not sure.. the undercarige and engine compartments are varients of the exterior color.. seems to me its the exterior paint (in my case) missing most of the metallic.. VERY HARD to match..
GM just assumed us fbody people wouldnt care..
Anyone else know???

My car is black and it kind of has that charcoal color look to it also, almost a dull black. I think this is because of a couple things. One the paint under there appears to be VERY thin and to me it doesn't look clear coated?

I am not %100 sure but I think r=that is the base coat color guys. At least that is what the body man told me! Why would GM change colors to paint the engine area?

Well it looks like I'm the lucky one of the bunch. My engine bay looks the same as the outside of the car, same color and clear coat. Some think I took the engine and everything out and had it painted, but nope came from the factory like that. Very nice I most say. Its probably the only reason why I haven't sold it and got another one.
