Default how to wire gauges?

ok i'm getting some autometer gauges. I'm thinking water temp, trans temp and oil temp. or Fuel pressure. i can get them grounded and run power to them no problem, but what wire do i tap into for the sending unit? do i need to tap into the block or what is the deal here?

For water temp. I taped into the port on the passenger side head( w/ sender and adapter)
For trans temp on the autos there is a small plug near the top of the tranny -simply rempve plug and screw in teh autometer sender.
Oil temp I believe you use an adapter on the oil filter etc.

^ Exactly what he said.

Here's two links for the trans temp. I have the exact gauge thats shown in the first link, it's an Autometer Phantom 2 5/8" trans temp gauge (electrical) with sending unit for $45 shipped if you want it, figured I could save you some bucks.

Anyway here!

wow thanks for the write up. I do'nt know about this though cause i'm not comfortable drilling and tapping into anything. i was hoping i could just splice off of some wires to do it. I guess i'm mainly going for looks too but. what are the 3 easiest ones to install? Oil temp?

The water temp is pretty easy. The access hole is by the #8 plug. If you got small hands easy to get to. If not pull the cat and plenty of room. The tranny one is a piece of cake. Just zip tire the wire and put in a wire loom to protect it.

Sounds like if you're going for looks and ease of install,

Water Temp
Trans Temp
Voltmeter

Voltmeter will literally be tapping into a 12v wire. For the other two you're just running a couple wires through the firewall, covering in wire loom and zip tying to whatever the hell you find around it.
