Default A totally different Camaro Splitter

So I'm about to start my splitter project. A friend of mine with a sick Z06 gave me his old splitter off his vette today. Its obviously not a close fit, but with a little bit of time and some work, a lot of cardboard mock up, and it should look pretty bad ***.

here are the pre pics, Ill keep it updated as it comes along.

I've wanted one of those exact Vette-style splitters for my 4 1/2 Gen Trans Am since I got it! Good luck with your project. I'm gonna stay tuned for the progress!

I think it will look better than most of those thin plastic ones. Do you plan to cut it because it's too wide?

But 93-02 are officially classified as 4th Gen. So that's how I call 98-02 cars 4 1/2th Gen. LMAO

On topic: Any progress? :p

Yea, im going to have to do some trimming. but really i dont think that much.

what i plan to do is take one piece of cardboard and trace all the way around the vette splitter.

Then, im going to take another piece of cardboard and trace the outline of the camaro nose.

Using the cardboard temp-let of the vette splitter, im going to make some notch cuts out of it to line up with the camaro nose. I am most likely going to also have to thin the thickness of the splitter toward the wheel well. Im doing this because i want the side profile of the car to be flat on the bottom.

i really dont like how current splitters tend to angle up in the front. So this is going to take some work.

the hardest part is going to be making the fiberglass extensions to make the distance to the wheel well. the vette overhang is much shorter than the f body. since i have zero fiberglass experience, this should be interesting.

Ill keep you guys updated, its not going to happen immediately, so be patient.

hey jason, i dont think fiberglass is what you wanna use. that bumper (and probably the splitter) are urethane, so youd wanna use a plastic repair/plastic weld type of kit. fiberglass would end up splitting from the plastic in one way or another, where as this would flex with the two and bond them together.

The splitter is actually fiber glass. I think im going to use a fiberglass kit to extend the splitter, then, if i mold it in, ill prob take your advise and go with something that has some flex.

Im a total novice when it comes to this stuff though.
