first attempt at a berger panel
let me start off by saying that i loathe paint/body work. It's just not my thing. However not feeling like paying someone else to do it, i went ahead and pulled my panel off the car, scuffed it up and shot some black and then some clear coat on it with a rattle can. I came back to it about 20 minutes later and it looked like the mud on a river bed after the river dries up (IE cracked all to hell). Apparently spray paint doesn't stick well to wax- who knew.
Round two and i brought it down to bare plastic, primed it, sanded it, painted, sanded, painted, sanded, painted, sanded, clearcoated, and buffed with rubbing compound. The rubbing compound i think was a bit too harsh because it took a lot of the gloss out of the clear coat. What I was left with is what i would consider a "gloss-matte" finish (as though there is such a thing).
I liked it so i went with it. I also added some stainless letters from emblem pros which i think look fantastic. Pics before, after, and a cool fisheye.
EDIT- inb4 "that thing looks like a 4x4. Lower it." I have zero intention of lowering it.

looks GREAT man!!!
I have had my ss camaro letters for years so I was wrapping the berger panel flt blk and it kinda was smoothing out the panel due to the ss letters filling it in a lil but the wrap wouldn't stay due to weather so I taped off the letters and painted it with flat blk later

just ran to the store, and walking back to the car i realized just how much better this thing looks now. The pictures i posted really don't do it justice. I was on the fence about doing it too, but i'm officially glad I did it.
I was going to get the stainless bowtie and z28 emblems to put back on but i may just leave it as is. I kind of want to get an SS hood and spoiler in which case i'd be taking the z28 emblems off anyway...

it's really overcast outside right now so i'm not gonna be able to get any pics that really pop. I'll see what i can do over the weekend. I also need to get that dealer sticker off the bumper. Suggestions on how to remove it without messing the paint up under it?

try GOO GONE, removes GREASE GUM STICKERS and TAPE. I had a sticker I removed with this stuff then washed it.
