Default Ordered custom seat covers - install question

Ok folks, as some may know, I am in the beginning stages of an interior rebuild. Part of my rebuild includes custom seat covers. They arw hampton vynal and appear to be of really good quality. I ordered them via ebay from a known custom seat cover vendor (not a sponsor so i won't name him).
*also thanks to 6LE for their emails, But in the end I ended up finding a very close match to my colour choices and needed them immidiately, otherwise i would have bought the 6le stuff in an instant*

My question is this: for anyone who has installed custom seat covers before on a TRANS AM - the vendor explained i was responsible for making holes in the seat covers for the head rest poles once I get the seats covers lined up.

what is the best way to do so without creating a rip / tear that will spread?

Any help / advice would be great!

And yes, i'll be posting pics of my complete interior build

yeah i think the X is what they recommend. i had a shop install mine because i wanted to have them sew the side plastics on there. since they are discontinued from gm, you have to reuse your old plastics if you want them on there (the accordian looking pieces)
