Then wipe everything down and if you want you can go over the plastic parts with plastic cleaner, tire shine, or armor all type products to make it look brand new.
That's how I did my truck:
Now I use Joe Gibb degreaser, then a tire shine.
Even my daily driver is only done about every 3-4 weeks and still looks like this. Once it is clean it is pretty simple to keep it that way. Maybe 10 minutes every 2 weeks. I know its not GM, but it is 5 1/2 years old and was driven this last winter.

I believe you are referring to the rubber strip along the bottom of the air inlet opening, correct?
