Default Chunking headliner on hard top car?

Like the title says, anyone removed the headliner for good? I couldn't find hardly any info on this when searching, really interested in seeing pics if someone has done it!

Anyone know if the a-pillars would work, or would they look strange not sitting flush against the headliner?

The seatbelts bolt to the roof, so they wouldn't be flush at all. Same with the dome light. Why would you remove it? It's like $150 for brand new piece from various retailers/Amazon.

This is a street/strip car that I only drive to the local car meet on Saturday night and also drive it to the track, so I'm just trying to think of things to ditch for a little weight reduction without making the interior look like complete crap. My headliner is actually in really good shape, just that ugly tan color which is another reason I'd like to remove it. Dome light can be removed and I'll probably buy aftermarket seats with harnesses eventually. My main concern is if the a-pillar and other interior pieces will look awkward.

Thanks for the pic lucky, doesn't looks too bad, definitely taking this into consideration.

Leave it. It is seriously a thin piece of foam with cloth glued to it. Look into lightweight carpeting. Not just pulling the padding off of the stock carpet (which does nothing to weight), but a complete carpet replacement using lightweight carpet. If you have a wheel with steering wheel radio controls, get a V6 or 1LE wheel that doesn't have radio controls (they are lighter - I say this from experience).
