airbag removal questions

airbag removal questions I did a search and couldn't find answers. I want to remove my driver and passenger side airbags. I need to know how I remove the passenger side airbag, how to completely disarm them so they can be removed, and what will my computer do if they are removed? Will the computer start throwing codes or cause any problems? I have a '99 Z28 A4.

Re: airbag removal questions I'll try to provide a little information. To take the passenger side a/bag out, you will need to remove the entire dash. There is an inertia sensor in the center console where the shifter is, and that will have to be taken out. The drivers side is straight forward. I remember seriously investigating removing mine and, once I realized that I had to remove the entire dash, I said to hell with it. The empty space on the passenger side would be a neat place to install guages if you could make it look decent. I don't know if you have a set of factory Helms manuals or not, but I would get those. They have instructions on how to go about doing that. Plus, an airbag going off accidentally can seriousy f*ck up stuff, like your windshield.
