Default Steam cleaning engine bay?

Looked like a simple enough way to take care of the grime that builds up on the engine. Can anyone see any drawbacks to using steam?

Just be careful, pointing the steam by the coil packs, plugs and CPU. Otherwise, Steam may be a good option. Also, watch out if the steam gets really hot. Could damage the plug wire insulation..

Thanks for the reply.

So if I just covered up the PCM and removed the coil packs and wires everything else should be fine?

Put a plastic bag around the air cleaner, CPU, and just dont point the steamer directly towards the coil packs. I have used a hose, and did not have any problems. Just let the car run for a while, to burn off any left over water!

PS..I would use some simple green 50/50 mix with water, let that sit for 1/2 hour and steam off! It will look awesome! CD-2 also makes a great kit that you can steam off...with a shine product to apply after!!

Good Luck!

I would just use "simple green".
