Default Hood and Fender Grill Inserts?

My old hood and grill inserts were painted silver by the previous owner. I'm having trouble getting all the silver paint off. I've used thinner and stripper. So I'm thinking about ordering new ones. It looks like the stainless ones are overlays which would not work because these look like crap. Any ideas?

You could try soaking them in mineral spirits, then rub with a stiff bristled brush. Or you could paint them black... Just prep the plastic well and use an adhesion promoter.

Thanks. I did actually soak them in mineral spirits first. Thinking it would be less abrasive on the plastic. But it didn't touch it.
