depending on who you find, their experience and how bad... I'd say anywhere from 100 - 300.. Where are you at?

Any pad+any compound most likely won't get you what you are looking for. Check out Meguiars site and watch their tutorial video. Gives great advice for what pad to use for which compound...
But, like the other post read those prices sound about right if you just want someone else to do it.

When you buff, you have to understand that compound, pad, buffer, speed, and pressure all play a part. Also making sure the surface is as clean as possible and the pad not picking up any left over dirt or sand as that will destroy a finish.

Also if you start aggressive, you need to step down in order level off the surface.

Before: /^\__/^\ you see peaks and valleys
During: ~~__^~
Finishing: --__--
After: _____

Kinda of a rough example as you may have levelled off the peaks but as you introduce more fine swirls, they will polish out, but you need the right combo.

If you want to pay, and pay for good work. Take it to a professional, and someone people can vouch for.

If you have taken too much off, he may not have much to work with and most good guys will measure the paint to see if its "saveable"

Luckily its a flat color like black so it should level easy.

- How much you will pay depends on the guy doing the work. I would avoid the $100 or less guy unless he knows what he is doing, and its a "side work" type situation. I would fall under that catagory. But even with my equipment, I will spend at least an afternoon, start to finish, which includes adding protection back which 100$ would be a small part of the bill.

Really depends how good you want your car to look. I would say 400-500+ easy for a full correction. If your a do it yourself you can buy a kit do some research and do it yourself.

ok thanks alot guys, i just called a guy who runs a respectable detail business and he said about $100 do buff out those fine buffing swirls, for that it's worth getting it done right in my mind. It's just not worth the aggrivation or time for me.

Once done, make sure the protection layer is on, and built up. ALWAYS use Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Wax every wash, and keep clean / quality micro fibers, try to minimize damage going fwd.

When removing clear coat to level defects, you have less to work with going fwd. Once you blow through the clear, your f*cked.

Why not spend a little more and buy the equipment yourself? This way you can do it whenever you want and be able to do other cars etc. Check out the "ask a pro detailer" thread.

Because most people do not have the knowledge, knack, room, patience, money (to invest) ect ect.

Just like some guys will pay others to mod / paint / upgrade / maintain their cars.
