Anyone ever replace rearview mirror bulbs?
So I am wanting to change out the bulbs in my rear view mirror for LED's in my 01 Z28.
I purchased some from superbrightleds.com. I thought they were festoon style bulbs. But when I went to replace them yesterday they were not.
Does anyone know what the correct bulbs are?
The bulbs in the mirror almost looked like a 194 bulb, and has anyone removed these before because they are really in there.
Do I have to take the mirror off?

not sure, but the ones in my '02 WS6 were 194s, the dome light was a festoon style bulb. the easiest way to get the bulbs out is to take the mirror off so you can get to the bulbs easier, take a small pair of needle-nosed pliers, and gently pull the old bulbs out. that's how I did mine without busting them. good luck with that project, it makes a world of difference in lighting inside.

Hmm, never had superbrightleds be wrong before. If they are 194's, my apologies for sending you the wrong information. I'll send an email to SBL if/when you find out the proper bulbs.

Could be possible but I doubt it since I know the past owner and the car is pretty much mint all original. But it would be cool to know for sure

AFAIK, the TA mirrors also use festoons, or so I thought. Probably yank the bulb out when I get home and check.

Even the Sticky here says it's a festoon. That's really odd.

The bulbs in the mirror just have one female side..The other side is the actual bulb. (194)
Thats why I dont think a festoon could even be possible to work because of the two metal contacts on each side of the bulb....However I remember on my 94 z28 they were definitely festoons, but the setup on the inside of the mirror was different

'01 and '02 Camaro/Firebirds have the 194 wedge base bulbs for the mirrors. 2000 and before have the 4410 Festoons. To get these out I just crushed the bulb with some needle nose pliers and pulled them out by the filament. Not the best way I suppose, but 30 minutes of built up anger lead to this method They look great afterwards! Good luck!
