Default My Under-Hood lighting Install.

I go to a weekly cruise-in that runs late and a lot of the guys have the LED strips under the hood. Some are very clean, and some are rather sloppy and blinding. I wanted to make this clean. WANTED to hide the LED light strip way in the back under the cowl, but that 102 intake is MASSIVE and I can't get my hands around it or in back of it as easy... So I had to mount it where it is now.

This was pretty easy, overall. A small switch from radio shack, some wires I have accumulated through the years, shrink tubing, solder, soldering iron, and these wire mount things I FINALLY found (Jegs.)

I tapped into the horn. I don't use the horn anyway. I was also thinking about tying it into the AIR pump fuse I no longer use. But when I was at radio shack, I forgot to get mini-fuses and ended up getting a small glass fuse holder and 5a fuses.

Anyway.. on to the pics ****.. Sorry for the shitty pics. My point and shoot has a stuck lens.

I LOVE it when **** comes out perfect!!!

5a fuse and holder.

Switch mounted. Wires were hid under the harness and pulled up toward the fuse block. Nice and out of the way.

Tap into the fuse block.

Mount the mount thingies.. I had to use better double stick tape with this. Had it on for ~20 seconds and it was falling down.

Done..

pretty cool idea for shows, but seems pretty pointless otherwise.

^ Yeah... it's for shows.. I'm not saying I'm adding 10hp by doing this. A lot of people show up around 10pm and have flashlights so they can see what's under the hood. Most or half of us have under-hood lighting. Almost all of the new Challengers there have it (Older crowd too. 40+)

It may look a little less blinding and more spread out if it was further back under the cowl. I guess like you originally planned.

Yeah, I just can't get my hand back there.. I had plenty of room with the LS6 intake... Not with the 102..

I'm thinking about doing a wire tuck project soon.... Gotta hide that damn fuse block.

^that looks good. Do you have it wired to turn on when the hood is up or do you just have it on a push button switch?

This looks pretty cool actually. What color are the LEDs? They almost look like a black light to me. Do you have a light strip under the windshield washer resivour too?

@Wicked 96TA - they're UV LED flex strips. And yeah, I have 2 4" strips underneath each side of the bumper support thingy.

Would be cool to use white LED's on the underside of the hood to light up the engine bay if you had to do emergency repairs in the dark.
