Sand/ Dust storm damage. My car is covered in side and out. With sand from elpaso. What is the best way to clean my engine that is caked with sand? With out causing damage to the engine. Alson what is the best way to clean out my a/c vents that are packed with sand? Even when I leave the air on all I can smell is wet sand.
I would get high pressure air to try and tust out as much as possible. Im sure time will help a lot.

Avoid getting water in the air filter, on the top of motor because of injectors/electronics, bending rad(they are aluminum, and inside of the alternator. The block its self/headers/ everything else should be able to do a light coating of water(that should be all you need).
I would try an air nozzle first, I have heard of people creating new problems when they washed their motor.
Can you post pics? It might not even be worth it unless its super bad.

I've rinsed my motor before and shortly after had a ruined knock sensor because water apparently seeped in under the intake, so be careful of that. That knock sensor was super rusted when I got it out.

This is pretty much my first Engine Detail. As you can see she needs it badly and now. What equipment and steps do I need to take to ensure my engine & bay look beautiful with out causing damage to the engine its self?

Yes avoid the alt. I use a wal mart bag and a rubber band to hold it on. Then suck some of the sand up. Then spray. Dont be worried it will be fine. Then spray engine gunk under the hood let it sit ten min. And spray off. Wipe off most of the water on top. Then just let the motor warm up until mostly dry. Do not spray water on a hot motor!
