Clay bar color question.
Clay bar color question. What dos the color of the clay bar mean? My buddy works for a dealership and he says they tell them to use white for lighter colors and purple for darker ones(i think thats right). He dosnt know why just what hes always heard and gos by. Well my car is half black (Hood - roof - trunk) and the bottom half is red. Do i need 2 different color clay bars or dos it matter much at all?
Different companies add dye to the different grades of clay, you'll have to ask the company making it which grade is which color.
All clay in the US is from one source currently. EVERYONE gets it from the same manufacturer, then they dye it to make it "their own". Just use a fine grade clay. Medium and Aggressive will cause surface marring that has to be polished out.

^ Agreed. I use Mother's for majority of work (yellow). I have Meg's as well but IMO is not as aggressive (white). Then Meg's offers a med (blue) and aggressive (ruddy red) which is a different color. Like said those need to be buffed once finished if you get those stubborn spots.
