Still need to wetsand them both. I'll be damned if I put ANYTHING on that lid.

The first one is the lid with just the body color. The color is a little off thanks to color correct on my phone!

I have PPG matched base from the paint shop. I'm pretty sure Duplicolor has light pewter metallic in their "Perfect Match" line.

What's next?!

Still need to wetsand a little more on the drivers side of the lower box, a bit of orange peel left. I should probably take out the front bumper support and paint that crappy plastic next. I'm happy!

And get rid of the thick *** AIR hoses also!

OP did you do any sanding on your lid or lower air box or any prep work on them? They look great!

Agreed, sir. I did the wire mod on my last two cars, and I bought a 2 pack of 2" rubber grommets for the hole through the fenderwell. I cannot for the life of me find a 2" rubber grommet again. I don't wanna do it until I find one, I want it to look clean. Lowe's or Home Depot, maybe? Thanks though dude!

Thanks man! The air lid is MTI, and they are not built flat, they have a texture to them. I sanded the face of the lid with an orbital sander, 160 grit. Then hand sanded it with 220, then 400 to make sure it was nice and smooth. I wasn't as concerned for the other sides having the texture in it. The lower air box did not get any sanding. Then a dust coat of primer, then 2-3 good coats. Wetsanded that with 600, then 1000.

Sweet! I've been wanting to do mine but I wasn't sure on which grits to use so I'll probably tackle it this weekend. Another tip, paint the bolts that hold down the lower air box

Should I do everything black? I was actually just going to leave the intake alone for once! Coils are gonna be painted pewter. I think I'm gonna sand down the valve covers and just clean up the metal, leave them like that.

Nice progress! You need to lose those exhaust tips though...bad. Lol. Needs a good set of wheels too. Maybe a sunoco hood? Then it'll be perfect!
