I've read on the forums that IPA wipedowns aren't good to use and don't remove every bit of oils on the surface, what's your take on this? Many guys on autogeek and other forums are recommending prepsol and other products instead.

Well you have 5.5inch pads so you want a 5 inch back plate. You want the hook and loop(which is just velcro). i think mine is made by orange lake country or whatever...the same company that makes the pads you bought. I got mine from either autogeek or from amazon I can't remember.

I am using the standard counter weight with a 5 inch backplate without issue so don't worry about that.
