I was going to buy an aftermarket shifter boot for a different color stitching, but found a way to mod my stock boot which is still in excellent condition. I found a video on the web showing how to do diamond stitching on leather steering wheels and noticed the same concept can be applied to the factory manual shift boot. I bought some thicker silver (may car is silver) sewing thread and used the same concept from the web and here are the results. Only cost me $5 to do this and about an hour of my time sewing by hand. Thought I would share if anyone else is interested in doing the same. Just follow the video on this link.
