Cleaning carpets
#2
Mine doesn't get bad. I do this every other time I really clean the car.
1. Vac
2.take stiff bristled brush and rub places on the carpet with a lot of dirt to loosen it up.
2a. (I do this sometimes) Take compressed air and blow out the carpet cracks, corners, and against plastics ect. This helps remove dirt caught in spots you can't get an attachment. Not a must but you will notice the difference.
3. Vac again.
4. Spray carpet cleaner and rub heavy soiled spots with a stiff bristled brush to lift dirt.
5. Use a wet/dry vac to vac up carpet cleaner.
6. Mist water with a spray bottle on carpet.
7. Wet/dry vac again
8. Make sure it dries really good
Works good for me. Ideally I guess you would want to use a real carpet cleaner but for light/moderate soiling I find this method to produce good results. Good Luck.

I used a stiff bristle brush ($5 at Lowes), vacuumed and then used folex, scrubbing it in with the brush. Folex worked really well for me.. its like $5.50 at Lowes as well.
The best you can do is get it professionally extracted though it can cost a bit more.

Carpet cleaning certainly isn't as glamorous as polishing paint to perfection, but it's a necessary evil that almost no one enjoys.
Take a peek at this video:
Adam's Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner.
It also works AWESOME in your carpet cleaner at home if you have one of those.

Here's a job I did last fall with Adam's Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner and the Bissell machine we have at home:

It is a Bissell Pro Heat Pet. We bought it to clean up after our damn dogs, but I use it more often for vehicles that come through my garage now. It has a removable hose and attachments that are awesome for tight spaces in interiors.
We even use Adam's Carpet and Upholster Cleaner in it in the house now. It works 100x better than the Bissell brand stuff.

Remove as much of the interior as you can and run it up to a local car wash. Most car wash/detail places provide carpet cleaning as an option when getting a car detailed. Ask them to only do the carpets for you.
It was worth every penny for me. Wish I had taken before and afters pics.
Leave the seats out and console for a day or two so it will dry out.

1) Arm and hammer baking soda. They make these little boxes that have sheets in them simply open it and leave it in the car. It will help absorb the odor. I got them from safeway. They go in the fridge to eliminate odors.
2) when cleaning your leather leave the towel under your seat. This keeps the good smell of the cleaner in the car longer.
Hope this helps

Do a quick vaccum to get the big stuff
spray carpet with a multi purpose cleaner. totally awesome works good
wet with a rag from a bucket of hot water and a little laundry detergent
scrub with a stiff bristle brush
add more cleaner and water if really bad
vaccum
