Applying ColorX/Tech Wax

Applying ColorX/Tech Wax I made the leap of faith from Zaino to the ColorX/Tech Wax combo this weekend and I'm damn impressed! The car looks every bit as smooth and shiny as with Zaino. It picks up light from places it didn't before polishing just like Zaino.
As a Zaino alum, I got used to applying and removing the polish using a front to back motion on the top of the car and up and down on the sides. I guess with the Meguiars stuff I can use the old swirling motion? Has anyone tried both and seen a difference either way?
