Default Question on Sanding Headlights

I finally figured out what happened to my headlights when i did the whistler mod, They bubbled slightly and the cooled, this gives the lense a very very slight haze in certain spots that drive me crazy. My question is how far down can i sand the lense and still be able to polish it out? I have been wetsanding with 2000 and finishing with a 3000 rubbing compound hand buffed with a sponge kinda thing. ( i kinda just found something laying around) Is a 1500 grit going to be too rough to be able to bring the scratches out with a 2000 and then 3000 rubbing compound? I really appreciate the help.
Thanks guys!

I went down to 500 and even 320 on some that I have done. It all comes out as long as you keep going up a level

I went 800, 1000, 2000, spent a long time with 1000 and 2000 to ensure it was even for polish.

Start with 1000. Wetsand with a very wet surface, keep a spray bottle with some dish soap so you can keep spraying it constantly, submerge your paper in a bucket of water (with a drop of dish soap) to clean the particles off of your paper. While you sand, the runoff water should be a milky white/yellow, this is the tired and hazed plastic rolling off. Keep wetsanding in an even pattern until the runoff turns to a clean white color, this means you've reached fresh plastic. Continue going up in grits for the sandpaper (1000>1500>2000) it's best to finish with 3000 if you have it, it'll help with some of the polishing. Then work in your polish to revive the plastic. Work the polish in until it breaks down and turns clear, then buff it off. You should do this several times if you're doing it by hand.

If you find that starting with 1000 is taking too long, go down to 600 or 800. Just be sure to go up gradually in grit so you don't leave any sanding scratches behind. Good luck!
