Door inserts?
Door inserts? So i bought some nice door panels for my trans am...
except they were in a firebird so they have cloth inserts.
now i am confused how to remove the and install new ones because the plastic nubs have to be cut to even getthe inserts out
when this is done... the structure stability is lost and the door panel bascially falls to pieces..
my question is how did you remove them and reinstall them and maintain stability of the door panel?
did you use a hardier wood for the insert mounting? maybe glue? zipties? lol jerry rig the hell out of it?

I did the same thing because the door panels in my TA were cracked. I took it to my local upholstry shop and had him swap out the inserts from the cloth to leather. He only charged me $50 and it looks great. Don't forget to pull out several staples so the panels don't crack.

I installed a friends like this...
Just have heat up the tabs on your door panels and bend them out. Dont cut them off. Then reinstall the door panel and heat up the tabs again and bend them down. Use a heat gun. It's that easy.

I trimmed the bulges on the tabs to remove the panel. Then to reattach the panel, used two-part plastic epoxy on the thin tabs and screws with wide washers on the tabs the look like tubes/studs.
