Default Shift **** question

Hey guys, first post here! Just bought my 98 Z28 M6 and i absolutely love it! Great to finally be part of the community. I have done some searching, but I still couldnt find the answers to my questions. My shifter **** is the stock leather ball that is, according to the previous owner, attached to a hurst short throw shifter. The ball itself spins and wobbles with minimal effort. After 'unscrewing' for what seemed like 10 mins, I gave up. Does anyone know what the issue is? And I'd like to get a hurst midheight stick and **** set, but it says it cannot be installed to any after market shifters. How am I able to tell if mine is aftermarket or factory? The previous owner said it was a hurst short throw shifter and it also has the hurst equipped emblem so I'm thinking its aftermarket. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Remove the shifter boot and see if it looks aftermarket, get some pics in here and we'll be able to tell you. As for your **** I don't know anything else besides beating the **** out of it to get it off, seems like its stripped off and once you get the **** off then you'll be able to get the "nut" off the threads and get a new **** on there.

Probably the ball itself is stuck and the leather skin is what's rotating

I just got my Fbody converted C6 **** from GS Creations and short stick from WS6store and I love the combo. The C6 **** fits in your hand perfectly and it's angled perfectly for the driver. A little expensive for a shifter setup but if you think about it. Your hand is there almost 100% of the time so, why not do it up?

I figured instead of making a new thread, id just post in this one again. I recently received the hurst short stick and it turns out the shifter i had on there has an angled stub, so it doesnt fit quite right. It works just fine, its just leaning excessively to the right. Has anyone found a way to fix this somehow? all help is much appreciated.

I had the same problem when I bought my car, the leather cover is just spinning. You have to grab it with some force and it will unscrew.
