custom Coil relocation (unusual idea)
I was tired of seeing coil relocation kits located under the cowl of these F-bodys, although it does its job I just feel if a coil went out it would be a total pain in the *** to change. I decided to re locate my coils on the fenders and I think it turned out pretty good
I started by clearing out the desired area on each of the fenders. On the driver side I did not have to move anything but on the passenger side I moved the tcs unit over about an inch. I welded the bracket to the fender. I also had to move a ground wire up about an inch. The brackets were held in by self tapping screws, I grinded the bottom of the brackets and fender down to bare metal to provide a solid ground for the coils. I also bought coil harness extensions of eBay since the factory harness would not be long enough. here is a pic of the brackets and coils mocked up
I custom made my wires using a 25ft roll of msd 8.5mm wire with 90 coil boots and terminal ends. I have since had a custom set made by firecore (way better) here is a picture of the wire setup
After I made the setup I knew I was going to run into clearance issues with the hood closing. I used a circle grinder and cut 2 holes in the hood on each side which provided enough clearance. I know it sounds a lot worse then it actually is in most of the pictures that holes have been cut and you won't notice them unless you were told that they didn't come there factory. I'm very happy with the final turnout of this! if anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

Not bad. A for effort for sure. But i think the main reason most people relocate the coils is to hide them (to give the engine bay a cleaner look). This makes the coils stand out more. I do understand this would make them easier to work on should one ever fail though. I guess it all comes down to what look your after.
