Default HID problems

hey guys ive been having an issue with my HID setup for over a year. trying to resolve it. i've even replaced the balasts. my pass side hid works but not driver side. i swapped the ballast so both ballasts works. swapped the bulbs, both work. i put a regular bulb in the driver side socket and it works. so i know its not the socket. but the driver side still wont come on. cant figure it out. its annoying. i've been driving w/ my highs for a year, i've had to point them down so i dont blind any one. any suggestions on why the driver side isnt working?

thanks.

I assume you tried plugging the plug in back wards/upside down?

I think these cars use a reverse electrical system.

yup, NUMBER 1 thing they say when you have this is to swap the polarity and try again, very important to have the polarity right.

Do you have a relay harness? If not you need to get one that's probably the your problem.

Xentec brand from ebay if you are on a budget.

morrimoto brand from theretrofitsource if you want to do it right and have a warranty.

is this a legal way to do it? I thought we had to buy HID projectors and fit them in custom?

I thought we had to do something like this to do it right?

That's the proper way to do it. And you get the best light output that way too. But most people can't be bothered to do it the right way. They'll spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on their car's engine, appearance, etc, but when it comes to the lights they become tightwads.

BTW, the Morimoto Mini H1 is probably the easiest to do a retrofit with.

Killerz - Glad you got the issue corrected. I would recommend you consider a relay harness for better system reliability.

merim123 - A HID retrofit for a vehicle originally equipped with halogens will generally be illegal. This will not matter if projectors are installed or just a set of drop in lamps. As you may know, we offer a number of different retrofit options for 4th gen Fbodies and other vehicles. A set of quality projectors is the best method of putting the light where you want it while avoiding harming other drivers. We received some interesting comments from a few of our customers that our lights never got a second look while going through state inspection.
