I think both ws6store.com and afterthoughts auto.com carry the adapter you'll need, I got mine from one of them but I don't remember which since that was a while ago. Should be like $25. Then you can use any of the screw on type *****. I used one from hawksthirdgen, a black ball with a firebird on it. I also shorten ended the shady by an inch while I was at it. Finally I added a shifter boot from a late 90's-early 2000's grand am, which fit perfectly. Gotta see if I still have any pics.

Button is now my line-lock.
There are many miscellaneous boots from the GM line-up that you can make work.
This shifter post has been cut 1", the **** recovered in leather, & the boot with it's original plastic frame is simply glued on from the underside.
(The camera flash makes the console cover look a different color, but in reality it matches just like everyone else's.)
So just search the threads for different ***** & shifter modifications, buy an extra console cover if you can & start experimenting.
You might find more threads in the Automatic forum also.

So there is no re-threading involved.
There are a couple threads in the Automatic forum that shows the cut A4 shifter shaft.
I do not know if the Trailblazer/C5 automatic shift ***** will fit the F-body application. There could be another thread that does show it, so keep searching.
Some people buy the adaptor noted above & in the other posts, from the WS6Store & then add a boot around that also, right up against an M6 shift ****.

The Trailblazer SS shift **** does fit. I have it installed in my 2001 Formula with a universal black leather shift boot. You just need to trim a tab on the inside of the **** shaft/hole. You'll see it if you flip the TB SS **** upside down and look in.
I don't have any pics of the TB SS **** installed, but here is babbage1109's car:
Here are a couple pics of the stock **** and universal shift boot on my car before I installed the TB SS ****:

You only need the adaptor from the WS6Store if you are installing a "manual shifter type ****" on to an automatic stick.
The automatic ***** just slide down into place & are held with a 'staple'.
The manual ***** are internally threaded.
So the adaptor threads into the ****, & then the adaptor slides down onto the stick & held in place with a set-screw.
