Default Door Panel Inserts

Got a question: I have the infamous cracked door panels on my 99 Trans Am and picked up a uncracked set over the weekend. Problem is mine has leather inserts and the ones I got are cloth. Is it easy to do to swap the leather out of the originals into the new ones I picked up? Looks pretty simple but they are held on by the plastic that was melted. Any tips or write ups on how to do it without screwing them up?

take some side cutters and trim off the melted rivets and then do the swap.. then take some real small self tapping screws with washers and screw them to the door panel..

I did this on my trailblazer when I covered the door inserts with Suede

Got it so far. Got the old insert out and now swapping over the leather one from the original. Self tapping screws are definitely the way to go and now trying to figure out how to attach the other "tabs" back. Any suggestions of what to use?

Take leftover model plastic, the outer parts that hold the model parts together before you break them off, and use a soldering iron and melt it to the factory tabs.

I did my interior a few years back and did the inserts of my doors. You can check my thread here:

Good luck.
