Default 3m removal
How do you remove 3m plastic from a car?
Previous owner installed a kit on the nose, but over time it is cracking. I saw on you-tube to use a heat gun but I'm a little nervous about that.
Any ideas?

If you can get good leverage on both sides use long lengths of thin string or dental floss, wear gloves and saw through the 3m tape. Once the plastic is off use heat to soften whatever tape is left and roll it off with your fingers and follow up with alcohol or another cleaner to remove any left over residue.

yep waxed dental floss and even some 3m adhesive removal spray. i took all the chrome plastic crap off my truck this way without an issue.

Did a test on the side mirror. The dental floss works but it's very tedious. This is going to take some time.

^^^ Yea you will go through plenty of floss. Thats why I recommend wearing gloves to wrap around the ends so you dont cut into your skin lol

Heat gun will take it off in seconds. I removed my emblems in no time with a hair dryer.

Used a steamer and a hair dryer without too much success. Will a heat gun damage the cars paint?
