Question What HID's to go with?

Just curious what company you guys would recommend for a nice set of HID's? I had some years ago which I really liked on my Supra that were a white/purple color. The color was close to what the BMW HID's looked like.

Thanks

depends on the budget.

for the best, get the BLS retrofit kit with Morimoto bulbs and ballasts.

I have the BLS retrofit kit and morimoto HID kit. I LOVE them. make sure you do the hi/low beam mod. Makes it really nice driving at night.

the problem with the cheaper ballasts is while they may work they don't WORK, see this video to see what i'm talking about.

You really should get a good projector retrofit when going HID.

If that's not an option and you're gonna get HID regardless, spend a little money and get some morimoto ballasts/bulbs.

If that's too much, DDMtuning stuff works well, especially for the price.

You're asking for trouble power washing the engine compartment, plus once a week is totally unnecessary. Use simple green cleaner and a brush then rinse off with unpressurized water from a garden hose. The electronics under the hood are very delicate and if they get wet you'll have lots of problems.

I have cheap ebay slim ballasts and they are working fine 6 years later. I had one bulb burnout but that's expected in that length of time.

I know lots of people that have had problems, you're just lucky you haven't. Besides you probably wouldn't know if someone's car you detailed developed problems after a period of time. But it's your car you do what you want....

you clearly paid no attention to the video, in the video he used 35 watt ballasts EVERYTIME with the same bulb EVERYTIME and the last ballast is MUCH brighter with proper color. I know what this guy shows is accurate because i've seen it myself, I had a cheap crappy hid kit and when my sister wrecked her car I took the ballasts from her car and put them in place of mine and the flicker I had went away and the color was whiter and brighter (this was on my last car) and both are 35 watt ballasts, the ballasts from my sisters car are now in my brothers car and I am running a set of Zenex that match the description in the video that cost 40 bucks for the pair for my BLS v2 kit.

the point of the video is how it shows the difference of PROPER ballasts vs cheapo ballast, most of the cheaper ballasts don't light the bulb properly, which makes them burn out easier and look crappy, I know all about the color scale and different temperatures and how 35vs55 actually changes the color slightly, that is NOT what the video was about.

here are some pics of when I had the 6000k in my driver side fog light with these good ballasts to give you an idea of what a proper 6000k should look like, not that greenish hue seen in your sig that is indicative of a cheapo ballast. Should be noted the greenish hue only shows up in pictures and not to the human eye, I see it with the LED bulbs I put in in place of the hid fogs back before I completely replaced the fogs with the 362 navigators.

Cheap stuff works fine in my car. I keep a backup balast/bulb in the glove box just incase one goes out but so far so good.

even the crappy ones will still be brighter then stock, as long as you don't go above 8000k, but please people stop being cheap and sticking 9006 HIDs into the stock headlights, YOU ARE BLINDING OTHER DRIVERS, you might as well just drive around with your high beams on, it's the same effect, do a proper projector retrofit.

5000k morimotos in mini d2s 2.0 projectors (Firebird BLS v2 kit) 2 pics of just low beams and 2 of 4 high beams, because the mini d2s 2.0 has a solenoid that drops the cutoff shield.
