Default replacing carpet, undercoat floorpan?

I am replacing the carpet with some black from stockinteriors.com to finish my black interior conversion on my 2000 firehawk. There is no rust on the floorpan, but i feel like it may be a good idea to paint over it with something to prevent it.. Does anyone use undercoat or something else under the carpet?

also is it a good idea to use dynamat? this is a street car, not a daily, but it seems like a lot of guys use it.

protecting from rust is done on the outside of the car, do dynamat or one of the far cheaper options like Raammat or one of the other alternatives, but do your research on the different types of sound deadening so you understand what does what. like certain deadeners are better at road noise while others deal with panel vibration.
