Default How do I fix this weather strip?

It's been like this for years and I can't take it anymore. I took the interior door panel off and saw the fiberglass-looking tabs that the weather strip clips to are worn. I tried pushing the strip down flush and it would stay for a while then pop back up. Using the window pops it up too. Is there an easy fix for this or should I take it to the body shop? What would they do to fix this?

Mine looked like this when I got it back from being painted after I hit a deer. I was able to push mine back down granted I had to really push. I did make sure to do it when I had the interior panel off. Hope this helps.

With the panel off I'm able to push it down so it's flush. However using the window causes it to pop back up.

I had the same problem. Mine ended up being the little metal clips were rusted and just didnt hold any more. A new weather strip piece fixed the problem for mine.

The strip itself looks fine, metal looks great. It's the door itself that is worn away. Looks like the tabs are made of fiberglass or something. I tried putting duct tape around the tabs to thicken them so the metal clips on the weather strip had something thicker to grip but that didn't work.

*EDIT* Found a solution. Used JB Weld 8265-S Cold Weld Compound on the metal clips of the weather strip and pushed the strip down flush on the door. The compound held everything nice and flush and now the door looks good as new!
