Remove surface rust from engine bay

All,

I have some surface rust on my shock towers and a few other places like my hood latch.

What's the best way to remove it? Will the rust remover from an auto store work?

Also, once my shock tower is clean, how can I paint it if it needs it? My car is midnight blue.

I'm interested to know as well. I've even considered sanding it off and respraying with an airbrush, but I'm not sure. In here for responses!

Thanks. I'm going to try it this weekend. I picked up the GM matching paint from Pep Boys but what primer should I use? Does it matter?

me too

I have an area on the drivers side, a small depression in the metal where apparently something pooled at one time, most folks just repaint their inner fenders at one point or the other.
