vynil door panel adhesive
vynil door panel adhesive I am in the process of fixing the cracks and recovering my trans am door panels in black vynil. The first panel came out pretty nice, but the vynil separates from the panel too easily. Im using 3m high strength 90. I used this stuff on the headliner years ago and it was STRONG but dosent seem to like the plastic of the door panel. Is there a better adhesive i can get locally or should i just stick with what i have?

Another recommendation for Dap. Imo no other contact adhesive even come close.
The uphill battle with adhesion to the door panels is they are molded out of polypropylene plastic which is very low energy plastic. ALL low energy plastics have horrible adhesion properties. My best advise for longevity on polypropylene even with Dap is to scuff the surface with sandpaper of like 80-100 grit and definitely use an adhesion promoter spray before hand. If you cover the armrest portion as well, you shouldnt have any issues there as the outer covering is molded PVC rubber. Just clean it well with acetone or a degreaser type cleaner before applying the contact cement.
