Default Is red as hard to keep clean as black?

Hello everyone I owned a black 2011 SS Camaro and it was such a pain to keep clean. I'm looking at getting a nice low mile f-body and know I'm not going to get another detailing nightmare haha! So as the title states is red easier to keep clean than black?

Red isn't even in the same ballpark as black. I've had one in black, and two in bright red.....red is by far easier. Not even comparable IMO.

well, technically speaking IT DOESN'T MATTER what color a car is, all cars get equal amounts of dirty regardless the color and for a car to look it's best require constant regular cleanings. that said, red is much less noticeable compared to black, but if you really want a car you don't have to keep clean, go PEWTER, it's practically the same freaking color as the dirt that builds up on a car.

PLus, no offense to guys with red cars, Pewter is 10 times better looking to start with, but can shine up almost as beautiful as black when cleaned up.

I've owned a Black 1997 WS6, and a Black 2002 Firehawk. Both cars looked great - but a PITA to keep clean.

I finally gave in, and bought a Red model, 2002 Firehawk. Like said above, keeping it looking clean compared to Black, is not even close...The red is way more for-giving!

I agree red is one of the easier colors to keep looking clean. My red SS is much easier to keep clean than my dark grey Mustang

^^ I agree with Pewter, then add some gunmetal rims. Your car will always look clean

Pewter really does hide the dirt better than any other color; I've had two in this color as well and the only upside is that you can go a long time between cleanings and barely notice a difference.

As far as it being better looking, that's totally subjective. I honestly hate the color, and probably shouldn't have bought it a second time but the deal was too good to pass up. It never really looks all that different even when freshly cleaned, nothing at all as striking as a properly cleaned black car.

agreed, it is subjective, i'm just so over the red sports car cliche, to me red is about the fourth worst color you can have a car (with Yellow, Pink and Gold being the top 3 worst), I don't know, maybe i'm just not in the age groups that like bright red and chrome wheels anymore, I had a buddy with a 96 v6 bird that was red and my pewter 99 was much better looking (but a lot of that likely also has to do with the front end differences). I just don't like red anymore (I used to when I was much younger), to me red is an accent color to be used sparingly.

Red? Black? Try driving a white car. It is horrible. And red is waaaayyyy better looking than pewter, on a 4th gen F body that is. I would take pewter on a pickup over red,, but not a Camaro**

Well when you limit it to Camaros, I'm talking Firebirds and TransAms like this
https://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-ti...r-18-pics.html

and these

https://ls1tech.com/forums/multimedi...uote-pics.html
https://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-ti...ewter-t-s.html

and we've had/have white cars in the family, so I know what thats like. try living a full MILE down a single lane dirt road with a white car.

Geeesus** I would have to store my car else where if I lived on a dirt road. We are looking at moving in the near future and I told my wife that a paved drive is a must, whether it is 50 ft long or a 1/4 mile**

Ive had red, blue, silver, white, and black cars, and black is by far the most difficult to maintain looking clean.

Id strongly suggest to buy a detail spray and some quality microfiber towels to keep the washing to a minimum.

I agree about gold (and, for the record, pink and yellow) being one of the worst and that's why I dislike pewter, to my eye it fits in with tan/beige/sand/gold-type hues, which don't work for me on anything except some trucks and certain antiques.

Red isn't my favorite either. I'd pick silver as #1, which might seem strange as many people would group this in with pewter (to me they are considerably different, with silver having none of the tan/gold tint that makes me dislike pewter), and then white and green as my other two favorites. Not sure how much any of this has to do with age groups; I bought my first F-body before some of our current site members were even born, but I'd still take bright red over pewter when speaking of most two-door cars.

White hasn't been that bad in my experience, definitely far easier than black. Either would be a pain living on a dirt road I'm sure. For that type of environment, pewter would probably be best for those who like it enough.

most the time it looks good, but I have seen once or twice with the sun setting (with the reddish hues the sun sometimes does as it sets) and the light hits it just right pushes it toward that golden color, didn't really like that (but i've even seen that sun setting make the charcoal metallic color I love so much look bad), but more often then not I look back and just marvel at how good the color combined with the firebirds curves look, I also like white, blue, charcoal metallic and black, maybe even a dark forest green, but none of those colors are any easier to keep clean.

I agree with the last two commenters on the green. Dark Yellow Green is one if my favorites on an F Body, in my opinion, although, there may be some bias. I don't really agree with the comment about dark green not being any easier to keep clean, I didn't have to put too much time into keeping my car clean looking. My last two disagreements is on Gold and Pewter. I think pewter is a nice looking color. I agree with gold being played out for the most part, but I think Sport Gold Metallic F bodies look great. Bit a huge fan of read, though

Ugh, my apologies to the SGM owners but, IMO, that's by far the worst color offered on 4th gens. Even Bright Purple Metallic is better, and I don't like that color either.

The oddball/super rare 4th gen color that I really like is Bright Green Metallic. Purple Pearl Metallic and Dark Green Gray Metallic are also very cool but obviously not LS1-era colors, and Bright Blue Metallic is up there too IMO.

If you're OCD like me, any color is as hard to keep clean as black.

I had a silver civic as a DD and it was easier to keep clean. Black is a nightmare, and I'll never buy a black one again. Just like Phoenix says, my OCD is getting the better of me and I can't keep up anymore.
