Corvette D-Shape Steering in Camaro *PICS* Update

I followed the write thread by MAXPLUSTEN to make this work. I had a custom d-shape steering wheel made. My airbag cover got sent to the wrong place so I will post some more pics when it comes in.

Airbag cover came in today. Turned out pretty good.

Awesome. That was not a cheap upgrade...lol.

Did you get an airbag or just the cover? Did you have it custom done too like what Apsis offers?

That is way cool, but I would have done ALL suede/alcantara on it.

But yes, WHO actually built this thing for you?

http://apsisusa.com/ My seats are a mix of suede and leather and I have carbon fiber interior pieces. I thought it would flow better having a little bit of each for the steering wheel.

No it wasn't lol. They are pricey but I am impressed with the quality. I called them and told them what I wanted and they said they can do it.

So this retains an airbag? Looks awesome but I can only imagine how much it costs in a mix of leather and alcantara.

Subscribing. If there is one thing these cars need it's an updated steering wheel that retains the airbag.

Yes, you would think that the high end aftermarket companies (Momo, Sparco, Personal, OMP, etc.) would have done this by now, but my guess is that they just expect you to dump the exploding whoopee cushion on a car this old, and out of production?

I have a stock airbag with Chevy logo that fits these wheels if anyone else is doing the upgrade. I have had it sitting on a shelf for 5 years.

Right now, airbag doesn't work on driver's side. I soldered a resistor in the airbag harness so it wouldn't turn on the airbag light and the passenger side still works. There is a guy who modified a different airbag and got it to work with this steering wheel. I will do that later.
