ought a 2011 silverado - fully loaded. only 62k miles. beautiful truck. has flow-master exhaust with duals and chrome tips. there is some light rust on the chrome tips near the weld point. I have chrome cleaner that I use on my firebirds tips. i know this will remove the rust, but is there anyway to put something else on them to slow or even stop the rust from coming back? maybe it will just require regular cleaning - i am not sure
Any bare metal that isn't a high end stainless is going to rust. Mask off the chrome and put some high temp paint over the welds.
This is what I did on my pickup when I used to drive gravel roads a lot. I had to repaint a couple times a year because of rock chips but it kept the rust away.
