Dash board caps versus OEM replacements?

I have a 1995 Firebird, base model with 3.4L engine, and like many cars that age, the dash board is cracked to pieces, albeit still installed in the vehicle. It looks like total CRAP.
I can't seem to locate an OEM dash, and I'm wondering if they're even available outside of a junkyard! Are the Coverlay caps recommended? I'm not an interior expert, and I need advice and/or resources...

The OEM dash is about $500 new. The dash caps are about $125. Some have installed the dash cap alone with some push pins glued to it to keep it in place.

Gmpartsnow.com has reasonable shipping on OEM dash pads. They also have half off shipping on orders over $299 right now. For the LT1 cars, and depending upon where you live, you could potentially get one for $350 or less. If you’re looking at the Coverlay pads on Rockauto, the shipping was absurd when I recently checked.

my dash pad broke clean in half about 10 years ago. Instead of buying a new one or a cap to cover it, I had it glued back together and upholstered with alcantera. Not only does it look way better, but now there's no glare at all in the windshield like there used to be with the plastic dash pad. It's survived these last 10 years looking just as good as the day I had it upholstered.
