2000 Camaro rear glass trim
I finally found someone to reseal my hatch glass and I also want to replace the moulding around the glass and it looks like it’s been discontinued. Any one know of a source in the aftermarket that has it.
It too me 3 years to find a class place that would even discuss the issue. The were all afraid they were going to break the glass if they remove it. I finally found a guy Choice Auto Glass that knew exactly what he was talking about and came to my house to take a look at no charge. He recommend I replace or remove the trim at the same time as he reseals it so the glue is soft and makes it easier to put on. Unfortunately looks like the 4 piece trim I have was discontinued somewhere around 2004 and replaced with a one piece trim. That was discontinued somewhere around 2013. I check all of the usual aftermarket places and no-one had a replacement. Hawks will have one soon but not official date. I took the trim off and the glass does not look bad so I am going to go without the trim as it serves no real purpose.

Very early in the 2001 model year GM updated the window trim (both front and rear) to a matte black material, which replaced the previous glossy black material. Appearance and fitment was the same, other than the matte vs. glossy finish. The newer matte version has generally proven to be less resistant to sun/UV related deterioration and was really a step down in quality, IMO.
With that said, I wonder if Hawks will be basing the reproduction off of the earlier glossy version, the later matte version, or the updated ~2004+ service replacement version? Will be interesting to see.

While they did say it was in the works they did not give me a timeframe. I am surprised that no other aftermarket company has jumped on this. I think it would not be a big deal for some of the weatherstripping companies to create.
