Default Cleaning an engine once it's out of the car...

I recently pulled my engine out and have it stripped down to the pistons. I want to clean it up some before I put it back in the car, what should I use? I don't want to pull the block completely apart and have it hot dipped, but I want to know if something else can get similar results. Thanks.

If I had a bit more time I would... but I just got all the new parts in (heads, rod bolts, cam, etc) and want to hurry up and get it back together. Stripping everything down for cleaning just means buying more stuff and waiting longer.
